  • ✓Specs confirmed on Prolux's product page

What we'd change

  • ✕Air watts, amps and noise are not published
  • ✕116 in water lift is modest for long pipe runs
  • ✕Depth not stated; a 2026 revision may change filter compatibility

Who this unit is for

The Prolux CV12000 is for homeowners who want HEPA bag filtration with a bagless fallback, a long warranty, and a unit that can run without an outside vent. Prolux rates it for about 8,000 sq ft and 8 outlets. It is a plug-in replacement for an existing 2-inch system or the heart of a new install.

It is a less obvious pick for anyone who shops by air watts, because Prolux does not publish that number, or for a home with a long, tall pipe run where the 116 in water lift figure is on the low side.

What the specs tell you

Prolux lists 142 CFM and 116 in of water lift from a 2-stage, 2-speed insulated tangential bypass motor. CFM is airflow; 142 is on par with the larger VacuMaid and Beam units in our records and is good news for bare-floor tools and for keeping debris moving. Water lift is sealed suction, the force that survives long runs and vertical climbs; 116 in is below the 130 to 146 in that OVO, NuTone’s PP7001 and VacuMaid’s 2-stage units publish. In a compact 8-inlet layout that will not matter much; on a three-story run it might.

Air watts, the combined figure most brands quote, is not published. That makes a direct comparison impossible, and we would ask Prolux for it.

Noise is also not published. A bypass motor exhausts cooling air separately from the dirt stream and is often chosen for quieter running, and the included muffler helps, but we have no dB figure.

Collection is hybrid: a HEPA filtration bag (6.8 gal) plus a cloth filter Prolux calls the Advanced Filter, or bagless into a 3.75 gal (14.2 L) bin. Bagged mode is the clean, filtered way to run it; bagless is smaller and dustier. Prolux rates HEPA at the bag; the record does not describe a sealed HEPA exhaust.

Fit and compatibility

Standard 2-inch pipe and a wall-bracket mount. Prolux does not state inlet types; the record assumes standard low-voltage and direct-connect electric compatibility, which is typical but unconfirmed. Power is plug-in 120V, not hardwired, again by assumption rather than a Prolux statement.

Exhaust outside is optional because an exhaust muffler is in the box. Dimensions are 35 in high by 12 in wide; depth is not stated. Weight is 22 lb.

What’s in the box, and what you still need

In the box: the power unit, cloth filter, HEPA bag (Prolux’s spec table lists a spare), wall mount kit and exhaust muffler.

Not included: hose and attachments, which Prolux sells as a separate kit bundle, and PVC pipe, fittings and inlets. The included muffler saves you one purchase that most other units require.

Warranty and support

Prolux offers a limited lifetime warranty on the canister body for the original owner at the original installation site, and 10 years on parts for the motor and electrical components in North America for domestic use. Commercial use drops to 90 days parts and labor. Claims need the original invoice; registration is encouraged. Repairs must be done by an authorized Prolux service center using Prolux or Trovac parts, and non-Prolux bags void the warranty. Transportation and service calls are excluded, but Prolux’s about page says the company pays shipping both ways on warranty claims. Non-transferable.

The record notes a conflict: the bundle listing’s title says 10-year warranty while its URL says 25-year. Prolux markets a 25-year body and 10-year motor service promise. No marketplace or unauthorized-seller language appears in Prolux’s terms.

Prolux is built by Trovac Industries of Blainville, Quebec, the same company that now owns Beam and builds Smart Vac.

Living with it

Bag changes use Prolux HEPA bags; using any other brand voids the warranty, so plan on sourcing them from Prolux. The cloth Advanced Filter stays in place and will need periodic cleaning. Bagless mode uses the 3.75 gal bin and will need emptying far more often than the 6.8 gal bag.

With the muffler installed you can run it in a basement or utility room without an outside vent. We have no noise figure, so if the wall backs onto living space, test it before you finalize placement.

What we’d verify before buying

  • Air watts: not published.
  • Amps: not published.
  • Noise (dB): not published.
  • Depth: not stated (35 in high by 12 in wide only).
  • Inlet types and plug-in power: assumed standard, not stated by Prolux.
  • Warranty term as stated on your listing (10-year vs 25-year wording).
  • Which revision you receive, given the January 2026 filter-compatibility note.
