Who this powerhead is for

The Cen-Tec CT20QD is for a home that already has, or is adding, a 120V electric hose with a flush-plug handle, and wants a wide electric powerhead with the wand in the box. At 14 in it covers large carpeted rooms quickly, and the Quiet Drive belt is aimed at people who find standard electric heads noisy.

It is an electric head. If your system has only low-voltage or air-only hoses, it will not run; look at an air-driven turbine head instead.

What the specs tell you

Cen-Tec lists a 14 in nozzle, 4 height positions, a headlight, a Poly-V Quiet Drive belt (#40999) and an agitator part number (41065A). Width is cleaning path: 14 in is wide for a central vacuum head and means fewer passes, with the trade-off that it will not fit between some chair legs. Four height positions let you set the brush for bare floor through deep pile. A Poly-V belt is a flat, ribbed belt that runs quieter and tends to last longer than a round rubber belt; a published part number means you can keep a spare.

Weight is 8.18 lb with the wand and 5.3 lb for the bare nozzle. That is on the heavier side for a head alone and typical for an integrated-wand assembly.

Not published: motor wattage, brush roll speed, cleaning-path width as distinct from nozzle width, and the warranty. Cen-Tec does not give a noise figure either, so Quiet Drive is a design description, not a measured claim.

Fit and compatibility

The CT20QD has a flush integrated electric wand. The 120V for the brush motor runs inside the wand and plugs flush into the hose handle. That means you need an electric hose whose handle has the matching receptacle; the hose itself gets 120V either from a direct-connect electric inlet or from a pigtail cord plugged into a nearby wall outlet. Cen-Tec calls the required hose a total-control electric hose, meaning the handle switch controls both the power unit and the brush.

It does not work with low-voltage hoses, air-only hoses or inlets that carry no 120V. Flush-plug patterns vary by hose family, so confirm yours before ordering. The EZ Release neck is a quick-release design for separating the wand from the nozzle.

What’s in the box, and what you still need

The record does not itemize contents. Cen-Tec describes the product as the nozzle with flush integrated wand, so expect both. You still need a 120V electric hose with a matching flush handle, and a power unit. A spare #40999 belt is worth ordering with the head.

Warranty and support

The warranty term is not published in the record, and Cen-Tec Systems has no support URL on file. Cen-Tec’s stance on marketplace purchases is also unknown. Ask the seller for the warranty in writing and keep your receipt. Cen-Tec does publish part numbers for the belt and agitator, which is a good sign for parts availability.

Living with it

Belt changes use Poly-V #40999; brush roll replacement is agitator 41065A. Clear hair and thread from the brush roll regularly, because an electric head that stalls will stress the belt. The headlight helps you see debris on dark carpet. Set the height to the lowest position that still lets the brush spin freely on your carpet.
